THE NITTY GRITTY

WHEN: Sunday November 15th, 10am-1pm

WHERE: TBD (In Seattle)

WHAT is the workshop? Our workshops are a rewarding mix of sharing, listening, and creating. The workshop is for writers and non-writers alike and is not just for “theatre people”!We have included many performers who had never set foot on a stage before our show!

Who’s invited? This inclusive workshop welcomes all (cis, trans, or non-binary) who are experiencing or have experienced menopause*. This includes “unconventional” menopause, for example brought on by surgery, treatment, or medical conditions. Our show always aims to be diverse across all racial, ethnic, cultural and sexual orientation spectrums.

Why a workshop? We hold a workshop in order to listen to and amplify local women’s stories. This means YOU! Our Seattle show (April 29- May 9 2027) will include the pieces we find in Seattle along with some performers from our previous shows. The workshop is the beginning of the community building we feel honored to create when bringing our show to a new city.

What should I bring? Just bring yourself in some comfy clothes- all materials will be provided. You’re welcome to bring a favorite pen or notebook if you like. Light refreshments will be served.

What happens after the workshop? We gather submitted material, either from the workshop or online. If your piece is chosen, we will ask you if you’d like to perform it, or have us cast it for you. Then we begin edits if needed, always in the spirit of creative collaboration. Once your piece is locked in, we begin online rehearsals with our director, Lisa. This is where the fun really begins!

We believe in PAYING ARTISTS. If your piece is in our show, you will be paid our contributor rate, and if you are performing as well, you’ll be paid our performer rate. While we wish we could pay you the millions you deserve for your brilliance, we do rely on grass-roots fundraising for everything that we do, so we pay as much as possible in keeping within our budget.

What if I can’t attend the workshop? We accept submissions 24/7 on our website!

WE HOPE YOU’LL BE A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY!

*We want to acknowledge that not all women have ovaries and not everyone with ovaries identifies as a woman. Gender diversity is expansive, and no single term (such as menopause) can encompass everyone’s experience.
